Week 15/52

Another school Project photo! yayy. haha. The challenge this time was "Food". I shot the seafood grotto before, and had amazing results. So I asked the chef if I could shoot him one more time. This time I used "cool" LED lights. Its a panel of LED's that are a continuous light. Really efficient in the video realm, and somewhat for photography. I just had to bump up the ISO a bit, just so I can shoot at a high shutter, and have a fast aperture. I had to make a collage just to get a feel of the whole deal.

Week 14/52

Ok ok ok... I have to admit, not my best photo I have taken on these series of photos, but I needed a shot, and I was pressed for a photo for my photo class. The challenge was 1am. I had an idea to shoot the pond in Temecula, but on my way off of work, I realized that I had no tripod. And to top it off, Lauren was waiting there for me, and was gonna surprise me with some food, and Starbucks :( Thanks to no tripod, there was no surprise. But I did end up having a better idea. I meet up with Lauren at home, picked up my tripod, and had her drive, and I sat in the back seat, set my camera up on the tripod, and picked up some trail lights. The photo is composed of two images, the lights on the streets, then a longer exposure to pick up the lights in the cabin.

Week 13/52

Week 13 was definitely hard to choose from. Pechanga held its first "official" MMA fight. (I say official because every weekend when silk gets out, there seems to be a brawl going on. haha)
There were a lot of good fights. Decided on this one just becuase of 1. He's my buddies Nick's coach, and 2. It really shows how the sport is. Not just boxing toe to toe, but also expands the fight to the ground, where you can throw in wrestling, and Jiu Jitsu. All in all a pretty good night.

Shot cage side at a ridiculously high ISO.

Week 12/52

Week 12 was another shoot in the school studio. My buddy Matt needed some new head shots to send to a modeling agency, and I need some shots for my school project. He had a few wardrobe changes, but this is one I enjoyed the most.

Fill light 3/4 lighting on camera right, and then kicker/rim lighting camera left. Shot on a gray background.

SLACKKING!!! Week 11/52

Sorry I havent posted on this blog in a while. (really doubt anyone is reading it tho. haha. :p ) But time to play some catch-up.

Week 11 was shot in the school studio. I saw an ad in Transworld Snowboard, and I really liked the catch lights. I put 3 slim soft boxes together and formed them into a triangle to get the effect. Turned out pretty cool. Now only if I can really get some of my own lights I could do this outside of school :\. Oh well...

The additional shot is from another angel to see how it was set up.

Week 7/52 San Diego is the Sky Limit

Rushed down to San Diego to get a a shot of the city sky line. The first stop we went I didn't really like, the Hyatt buildings were to straight on. Drove down the street a little further down and found this place behind a restaurant. (Which I really want to check out, cause it looked really good).

30 second exposure, cropped and processed in Lightroom and in Photoshop. (c'mon when does California really get blueish purplish skies???)

La Jolla Cove

Well this past weekend was pretty fun. Went with the wife and our friends Gaby and Brad to La Jolla. Well first we went to Mission Beach because my brother Evan gave me a 1 hour free session to the wave house. I must say, it is A LOT harder then it looks. It was definitely fun, and I really want to try it again... and I hope next time I can stand up longer! haha. Well after the session at mission beach we headed down to the La Jolla coves, we wanted to see the seals, and I wanted to get a shot of the waves crashing on the rocks, turned out that the sun didn't really want to come out and play, so the weather was really gloomy, but I decided to still get my shot, and I figured I would make it a black and white to give it that really "Gloomy" look. So here it is.

New Old News

Well a while ago I went shooting with a couple of friends at Iron sights... and I decided to bring my camera rig with me to see how well it would shoot in a low light situation.... not bad if you ask me :D (I believe the ISO is at 3200, with +2 exposure compensation).

Even newer equipment!

I used to own a Nikon.... but now I transferred over to Canon! (yay!) I was able to purchase the canon EOS 5d Mark 2 along with a 24-70mm f2.8L USM lens. But that left me with short cash to purchase a flash for it... so I went ahead and bought a wireless transmitter and receiver for it called a Cactus V4. Really effective... you can really only find them here... "http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/product.php?productid=17204&cat=274&page=1" Some pretty cheap stuff on the site, but these triggers are well made. Anyways, I needed to get some new head shots, so I had to beg my wife to let me borrow her for some shots... and this is what I got with my old Nikon SB-800 flash with my new canon equipment. Enjoy :D

A new year, a new camera, a new start

Well to put in short, this new year has been amazing so far. We (my wife and I) have moved into our new home, and I FINALLY got my new camera :D. I have never really blogged before, but I guess its a good way to showcase my new photos that I will be taking. So here are a set of my newest photos that I have taken thus far. The far bottom photo is of my friends girlfriends car.
The two landscapes were taken from our Tahoe trip. Hope you enjoy!
